Meet Marianne

“I don’t believe we are broken. I believe we learned how to survive.”

Marianne Ames is a mother to five children, each of them entirely their own person. She is also a yoga teacher, somatics guide, and embodied leader who is devoted to helping people reclaim the intelligence of their own bodies and the natural truth of who they are. Her philosophy is built on an unwavering conviction: “I don’t believe we are broken. I believe we learned how to survive.”

Marianne’s work was not born in a textbook but forged through her own lived experience of transforming past trauma into freedom, and self-belonging. Rather than “letting go” of the past, she teaches the art of building capacity, the internal space needed to process our history, and the compassionate tenderness necessary to integrate it. This process of coming home to yourself and your unique purpose is the heartbeat of everything she transmits.

As the founder of Bliss Yoga Studio in Monroe, Washington, Marianne’s approach bridges science and soul. Rooted in safety and the power of being witnessed, she creates spaces where people feel accepted and being authentically human is the only requirement. From that foundation, she guides the integration of body and mind in a way that is accessible and real.

Marianne is also a facilitator and keynote speaker, leading interactive sessions on embodiment, somatics, the nervous system, vagus nerve regulation, sensuality, sovereignty, shadow work, the subtle energy body, embodied leadership, and the deeper teachings of yoga. Her style is experiential, honest, and engaging, inviting people not just to learn, but to slow down, feel, and be curious in understanding the language of the body. She is the creator of Awaken, a 200-hour yoga teacher certification, EMERGE, a somatic and nervous system trauma-informed certification, and Awaken Your Bliss, a leadership immersion yoga retreat.

Whether she is cooking in the kitchen with her kids, leading transformative containers, or sweating alongside her students, Marianne lives with a heart-forward, infectious honesty. To her, embodiment is a radical act of rebellion. It is not about getting it right or looking a certain way; it is about the fierce, honest choice to be fully alive in your own skin.

On any given day, you might find her laughing through a difficult sequence in Power Vinyasa, or singing along to the music, (as a nod to the little girl who started it all, with dirty feet of course) a constant reminder that this work is about remembering, returning, and learning to trust what has always been there.
